Nevertheless there are remote controls that exists that can do the same job, more advance modules allow the user to send a SMS code via the mobile phone to disable the motion sensor alarm.

Nowadays the systems are easily configurable, which allows you to program the alarm system however you want. If you go to work at 9am to 6pm, you can set it to turn on at that specific time, and when you come back at 6pm, it disables itself automatically. Similarly if you go on holiday, you can just set the alarm on 24 hours a day. There are systems that even let you monitor your house via an online interface, noticing you if something is wrong even if you are abroad. More advance systems could incorporate a motion sensor camera which would record if it senses movement.
